Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele has been named the NHL's First Star of the Week for the period ending March 8, 2026. The announcement recognizes Scheifele's outstanding performance over a three-game stretch where he tallied eight points. This marks the ninth time in his career that Scheifele has received this honor.

Scheifele, a 32-year-old native of Kitchener, Ontario, began the week by contributing to all three of the Jets' goals in a 3-2 overtime victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. His performance included his 18th career overtime game-winning goal, tying him for seventh-most in NHL history. He continued his strong play with another game-winning goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Scheifele capped off the week with a three-point effort (one goal, two assists) in a 3-2 overtime win against the Vancouver Canucks.

Scheifele's eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) were tied for the most in the NHL during the week, and his five assists were tied for second. A first-round pick (seventh overall) by the Jets in the 2011 NHL Draft, Scheifele currently leads the team with 78 points and ranks sixth in the NHL. He also leads the Jets in goals (30), assists (48), and game-winning goals (6).

Throughout the season, Scheifele has reached several milestones, including his 500th career assist on January 13 and his 900th career game on November 22. He also surpassed Blake Wheeler for the most games played and points in franchise history. Scheifele is the first Jets player to be named a weekly selection in 2025-26, having previously been named the NHL's Second Star of the Month for October.
