Canada's Rachel Homan clinched a spot in the Olympic semifinal for women's curling at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, defeating South Korea with a score of 10-7. Homan's team overcame a shaky start to win their final five games, securing their place in the playoffs. This marks Homan's first time reaching the playoffs in her three Olympic appearances.

The pivotal match saw Canada, ranked number one in the world, rally after an early deficit against a strong South Korean team. A turning point came in the sixth end when Canada scored four points, establishing a lead they maintained until the end. Homan, with teammates Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew, and Sarah Wilkes, will now face Sweden in the semifinal.

Homan expressed immense pride in her team's performance, acknowledging their collective effort and the support they received. "I couldn't ask for anything more from the girls and I'm unbelievably proud of them for getting us into this position and into the semi,” Homan said. The team's journey to the semifinal included overcoming a three-game losing streak, demonstrating their resilience and determination.

Canada has a rich history in Olympic curling, considered the best curling country with 12 medals. However, the women's team hasn't secured gold since 2014, when Jennifer Jones' team went undefeated. Homan and her team are determined to bring Canada back to the top of the podium. The semifinal game against Sweden is scheduled for Friday morning.
