The Winnipeg Jets' momentum came to a screeching halt on Tuesday night as the Anaheim Ducks defeated them 4-1 at Canada Life Centre. A second-period surge, featuring three goals in just 1:44, proved to be the deciding factor in the game. The Jets entered the game with a three-game winning streak and a six-game point streak.
After a scoreless first period, Morgan Barron scored early in the second to give Winnipeg a 1-0 lead. However, the Ducks responded with a flurry of goals. Tim Washe tied the game, followed quickly by Ryan Poehling giving Anaheim the lead, and then Alex Killorn extending it further. Jackson LaCombe added an empty-net goal late in the game to seal the victory for the Ducks.
The Ducks' goaltender Lukas Dostal made 12 saves, helping his team rebound from a 4-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues. Connor Hellebuyck, the Jets' goalie, had 30 saves but couldn't stop the Ducks' second-period onslaught. With the win, the Ducks sit atop the Pacific Division, and Dostal has won 13 of his last 15 starts.
The Jets will look to bounce back as they host the New York Rangers on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Ducks continue their road trip with a visit to the Toronto Maple Leafs, also on Thursday.
