Sidney Crosby added another milestone to his decorated career on Sunday, surpassing Jarome Iginla to become Canada's all-time leading Olympic scorer among NHL players. Crosby's three-point performance, consisting of a goal and two assists, propelled Canada to a commanding 10-2 victory over France at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The win ensured Canada finished the preliminary round undefeated and secured the top seed heading into the quarterfinals.

The game against France showcased Canada's offensive depth, with nine different players finding the back of the net. Macklin Celebrini contributed two goals, while Connor McDavid and Mark Stone each added a goal and two assists. Tom Wilson, Cale Makar, Devon Toews, Bo Horvat, and Brandon Hagel also scored for Canada. Goaltender Jordan Binnington made 12 saves to secure the win.

The game wasn't without its physical moments. Tom Wilson engaged in a fight with France's Pierre Crinon after Crinon delivered a high hit to Nathan MacKinnon. "That's a big part of what we're all about," Canadian head coach Jon Cooper said. "These guys go through a wall for each other. It's fun to watch". Canada will now face the winner of the Czechia-Denmark qualification playoff in the quarterfinals.

Connor McDavid now leads the tournament in scoring with nine points. "We came to win a hockey game and continue to get better," McDavid said. Crosby's record-breaking performance and Canada's dominant win have solidified their status as a gold medal favourite at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
