Canada's Para ice hockey team secured a silver medal at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, losing 6-2 to the United States in a hard-fought gold medal match. The American team's victory marks their fifth consecutive Paralympic gold in Para ice hockey.

The United States has now swept the hockey tournaments at the Olympics and Paralympics, a feat never before accomplished. All three American teams defeated Canada in the finals. Jack Wallace led the charge for the U. S. with a hat trick. Liam Hickey scored both goals for Canada. A record crowd of over 10,000 fans packed the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena for the final.

Despite the loss, Canada's captain Tyler McGregor expressed pride in his team's performance and resilience throughout the tournament. "We showed a lot of resilience I think, obviously it's not ideal to go down in the first period of a gold-medal game, but we pushed back and even into the third period we showed a lot of resilience, a lot of heart, a lot of Canadian grit," McGregor said. Head coach Boris Rybalka echoed McGregor's sentiments, noting the team's determination and effort.

This marks Canada's third straight silver medal in Para ice hockey, with their last gold medal win occurring in Turin in 2006. The Canadian team qualified for the 2026 Paralympics after finishing second at the 2025 World Para Ice Hockey Championships in Buffalo. Canada entered those Worlds as defending champions following a 2–1 victory over the USA at Calgary 2024.
