Montreal played host to the ISU Short Track World Championships from March 13-15, with Canada adding two medals to their haul on the final day. The Canadian team secured gold in the men's 5,000-metre relay and silver in the mixed 2,000-metre relay. The men's relay team consisted of Félix Roussel, Maxime Laoun, Steven Dubois, and William Dandjinou, who ultimately took the top spot after a South Korean disqualification.
The mixed relay team, composed of Florence Brunelle, Danaé Blais, Dandjinou, and Dubois, initially led the race but were overtaken by Italy in the final lap, mirroring the podium from the recent Olympics. Roussel and Courtney Sarault also contributed to the silver medal, competing in earlier rounds.
Despite these victories, Canada's performance at this year's championships resulted in a total of three medals, fewer than the ten achieved last year and the five won at the Milan Cortina Olympics last month. Individually, Steven Dubois secured a gold medal in the 500-metre race on Saturday. Courtney Sarault narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in the women's 1,500-metre race.
The event, held at the Maurice-Richard Arena, saw participation from over 30 countries, marking a homecoming for many athletes following the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano-Cortina. The championships served as the final competition of the season, with skaters vying for world titles.
