Air Canada Flight Attendant Ejected in LaGuardia Crash, Survives

Share:

An Air Canada flight attendant miraculously survived after being ejected from the aircraft during a collision at LaGuardia Airport in New York on March 22, 2026. The Air Canada Express flight, operated by Jazz Aviation, collided with a fire truck while landing. The crash killed the two pilots, identified as Antoine Forest and Mackenzie Gunther.

Solange Tremblay, a veteran flight attendant, was found alive on the tarmac still strapped into her jump seat. Her daughter, Sarah Lépine, described her survival as a "total miracle" in an interview with TVA Nouvelles. Lépine said that at the moment of impact, her mother's seat was ejected more than 100 meters (328 feet) from the plane.

Tremblay is currently hospitalized with severe injuries, including multiple fractures to her legs and a fractured spine. She has already undergone multiple surgeries and requires skin grafts. A GoFundMe page has been created to support her medical treatment. Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau released a statement expressing condolences to the families of the pilots and those affected by the accident.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the crash. Early findings suggest human error may have played a role, with investigators examining why clearance was granted to the fire truck as the plane was landing. The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder have been recovered and are being analyzed.
