The Okanagan Indian Band has ordered immediate evacuations for properties in the Head of the Lake area and other locations threatened by the Bradley Creek fire. This includes residents north of Bonneau Road and south of Highway 97, as well as those along Head of the Lake and Hawhola roads. The Regional District of North Okanagan has also issued a separate evacuation order for nearly two dozen properties northeast of the lake, with more than two dozen others on evacuation alert. Officials have described the fire as a significant risk to life.
The Bradley Creek wildfire is one of several concerning blazes in British Columbia's Interior. Another wildfire near Kimberley in the East Kootenay region has also prompted tactical evacuations.
