Motorola to Acquire Bell Canada's Mobile Radio Business

Share:

Bell Canada, a subsidiary of BCE Inc., is selling its land mobile radio network services business to Motorola Solutions Canada Networks Inc. for $675 million. The deal, announced on March 26, 2026, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory and third-party approvals.

The land mobile radio networks provide critical two-way communication services, including walkie-talkies and push-to-talk systems, across Canada. Motorola Solutions Canada has been a long-time partner with Bell in providing these services for over 30 years. The acquisition aims to bolster the long-term reliability and security of these communication networks for Canadian users.

Michael Martin, president of Motorola Solutions Canada Networks Inc., expressed admiration for Bell Canada's customer loyalty and trust, emphasizing the acquisition's role in securing the country's land mobile radio communications. Bell will continue to collaborate with Motorola Solutions Canada as a service delivery partner following the transaction.

This move follows BCE's recent announcement of a $750 million public offering of MTN Debentures, intended for debt repayment and general corporate purposes. RBC Capital has also raised its price target on BCE, anticipating revenue growth supported by ventures like Ziply and Bell Media.
