This past week, the Maple Leafs added several promising defencemen through the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. Among the selections were Alexander Bilecki, drafted 60th overall, and Ethan MacKenzie, chosen 69th overall. Bilecki, a strong two-way defender, was instrumental in the Kitchener Rangers' Memorial Cup win and is expected to return for the upcoming season. MacKenzie, a left-shot blueliner, joins a system needing depth on that side and brings a history of strong performances, including a spot on Canada's World Junior team. The draft also saw the addition of Mans Gudmundsson in the third round, a right-shot defenceman with size and defensive potential.
