Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 is officially live, bringing with it a host of new features and changes to the popular battle royale game. The new season, titled "Showdown," introduces a rivalry system where players can align with either Team Foundation or Team Ice King, earning points and unlocking rewards based on their team's performance. The season is expected to run until June 5, 2026.
Among the key updates are new weapons, map locations, and gameplay mechanics. Players can now drive the Battle Bus and engage in rivalries using in-game screens to mark enemies for special benefits. New map locations include Squibbly Shores, Frigid Fortress, New Sanctuary, and Dark Dominion, replacing previous areas. The Chapter 7 Season 2 battle pass features new skins, including Bugs Bunny and Dwayne "The Foundation" Johnson.
However, Canadian players may notice a change in the cost of V-Bucks, Fortnite's in-game currency. Epic Games has increased the price of V-Bucks, citing rising costs associated with running the game. This means that Canadian players will now receive fewer V-Bucks for the same price, with a $11.99 pack now offering 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000. Epic Games is currently engaged in antitrust battles against Google and Apple, accusing them of anti-competitive practices related to in-app purchase commissions.
The V-Bucks price increase has stirred some discussion among Canadian Fortnite players, with some expressing frustration over the change. Despite this, Fortnite remains a popular game in Canada, with many players eager to explore the new content and features in Chapter 7 Season 2.
