Carney optimistic on pipeline progress at Calgary Stampede

Prime Minister Mark Carney made an appearance at the Calgary Stampede, taking in the sights and sounds of the iconic event while also engaging in discussions about Canada's energy infrastructure. On Saturday evening, Carney was observed enjoying mini doughnuts and watching the chuckwagon races, greeting attendees with a white hat and belt buckle.

This appearance comes shortly after Carney announced a new plan for an oil pipeline to the West Coast with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. When asked about the pipeline's progress, Carney expressed a positive outlook. "I'm feeling pretty good about it now," he stated, indicating optimism that the project will be completed. He also mentioned that national polling suggests the pipeline has majority support across the country.

Carney's presence at the Stampede also provided an opportunity for him to reiterate his views on interprovincial cooperation and energy development. He recently released a video advocating for working across provincial boundaries and shifting away from previous climate plans, emphasizing Canada's need to address energy security, global instability, and climate change. His approach focuses on developing the country's energy resources in an environmentally sustainable manner for export to global markets. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Alberta Liberal MPs Matt Jeneroux and Corey Hogan, as well as Terry Duguid of Winnipeg, and was seen enjoying the chuckwagon races with his wife, Diana Fox Carney.
