Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen reported that Detroit is aggressively pursuing Pettersson, despite the 27-year-old having a full no-trade clause and six years remaining on his $11.6 million per season contract. While Pettersson was an All-Star in the 2023-24 season, his performance has dipped recently, but a change of scenery could rejuvenate his game.
Evander Kane is another Canuck who may be on the move. According to TSN insider Chris Johnson, Kane, a pending unrestricted free agent, has attracted interest from several teams, including the Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Dallas Stars.
