Canada's Colton and Kadriana Lott began their quest for a World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship title with a 6-4 victory over South Korea on Saturday. The tournament is being held in Geneva, Switzerland. The Gimli, Manitoba, duo are among the most decorated mixed doubles teams in Canada, with multiple national championship medals.

Kadriana Lott acknowledged the initial jitters that come with a major event but was pleased with their strong start. "Usually, a big event like this, you're nervous to start and nervous to see what the ice is going to do and feel like," she said. "It was good to have a strong start. We do notice there are areas that we're going to work on, but now we feel more comfortable knowing what the ice is doing going into (Sunday)".

The game saw Canada take an early lead, scoring three in the first end. South Korea closed the gap in the fifth, but a well-executed hit by Kadriana in the sixth pushed Canada ahead. Colton Lott emphasized the importance of that shot, noting how close they were to conceding a steal.

The Lotts are determined to capture Canada's first world mixed doubles title. Their next matches are against Finland and the United States. The gold medal game is scheduled for May 2.
