Hockey Canada has unveiled the roster of 32 players invited to the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase, an important evaluation camp for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship. The showcase will take place from July 26 to August 1 at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario, featuring games against international rivals Finland, Sweden, and the United States.
This year's camp includes a blend of returning players from the 2026 World Junior Championship squad and promising prospects aiming to make their mark. Notably, top NHL Draft picks Carson Carels and Keaton Verhoeff are among the invitees. Eight players from Canada's bronze-medal winning team at the 2026 World Juniors are set to participate, including Carels, Braeden Cootes, Jack Ivankovic, Caleb Desnoyers, Brady Martin, Cameron Reid, Cole Reschny, and Verhoeff.
The roster boasts significant CHL talent, with 31 of the 32 players developed in the Canadian Hockey League, representing 22 different CHL clubs. Many of these players have also achieved success at the IIHF U18 Men's World Championship, highlighting a deep pool of developing talent. General Manager Alan Millar emphasized the importance of the showcase for evaluating players against top international competition and building team identity.
The event in Windsor will provide a critical opportunity for Hockey Canada staff to assess the team's potential and chemistry as they begin their journey towards the 2027 World Junior Championship, which will be co-hosted by Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta. The showcase will include practices, scrimmages, and three exhibition games, culminating in the final selection process for the national junior team.
