A comprehensive new report has found that an alarming 95% of students surveyed on Canadian campuses have experienced or witnessed antisemitism in the past year. The study, commissioned by the federal government and conducted by the Association for Canadian Studies, surveyed 900 Jewish students and 755 non-Jewish students across the country.
The findings suggest that antisemitism is not an isolated issue but a widespread problem impacting the daily lives of students. More than two-thirds of respondents indicated that their university does not take antisemitism seriously, and many do not feel their campus is a safe environment. The report also noted that a fifth of Jewish students reported experiencing physical violence.
These statistics highlight a significant concern for the safety and well-being of Jewish students in Canadian post-secondary institutions.
